“Study hard. Grow strong.” That's the motto at Ariel Ministries' Camp
Shoshanah. Located in the magnificent Adirodack Mountains in upstate New York, this is the place where people from all walks of life join together and study intensive Bible-based courses,
while enjoying the panoramic view of over 400 acres of plush countryside.
Ariel Ministries' Executive Director Arlie Francis states that this camp site is not just another spot on your map. It's much more. “Camp Shoshanah is a mindset; a directive to disciplined study of the Scriptures from a Jewish perspective,” says Francis. “Some people will never have the opportunity to attend Camp Shoshanah, but the idea of 'study hard, grow strong' is firmly rooted in their lives.”
For those who have been blessed with the opportunity of attending, Mac and Alison Leauanae of New Zealand are continually “blown away” by their experience at Camp. As third-year attendees, the Leauanaes' continue to encourage others to take part in what has significantly shaped their lives as believers in Yeshua.
“Camp Shoshanah is life-changing,” says Mac. “We came, we saw, and we were blown away
by the depth of teaching, the like-mindedness of fellowship, and the forming of long-term relationships. Our own walk with Messiah has grown exponentially since first attending Camp.” In
fact, the growth of the apostate church in their home country, and the lack of solid Bible teaching is what initially encouraged the Leauanaes' to check out this program. “Because of Camp
Shoshanah, we finally understand the Word correctly. Scriptures that we thought we understood and incorrectly applied to our lives have now come alive in its proper context.”
So what's been happening at Camp this summer? According to Alison, this year has presented itself in an incredible
learning experience. “The curriculum has been amazing. We have enjoyed courses such as Mottel Baleston's Zionism and the History of Israel, as well as Dr. Fruchtenbaum's Eschatology,
Book of Jeremiah, and Life of Messiah. Dr. Bob Morris' Bible Study Methods is simply world class.” But if the Leaunaes' had to choose their favorite, it would be Life
of Messiah from a Jewish Perspective.
“No other teaching has impacted my life as much as this study has,” states Mac. “It shows how the Jewish customs of the 1st century provide a fullness of understanding that I never would attain just reading it as I had. It really has helped iron out many of the seeming contradictions.”
For those who are unable to attend camp this year, Francis encourages daily prayer. “We want to ask you to intercede before the Lord on our behalf,” says Francis, “and commit to praying daily for the people who are attending the final two weeks of this Camp season. Pray specifically that the teaching from this year's program will lead to the salvation of many Jewish people and the building up of the Body of Messiah.”
And for those who have the opportunity to take part in Camp Shoshanah's program during its final two weeks, there is still time to register! Visit the Camp Shoshanah 2010 Program page for more information and course schedules.
